Death By Food Pyramid. That’s the catchy title based on Denise Minger’s fetching blog which critiques craptastic food studies that are
a) not observational, no matter what they claim
b) provide the shakiest of data, often leading to the extremist of diets (all raw, all vegan, all Cheetos — not!)
Her point…You would probably thrive better on the food pyramid here than MYPLATE.GOV (which has a really trashy looking TV dinner look anyhow). Denise doesn’t advocate for any one diet but notes that low-carb diets are too often dismissed by the media. Lightening your glycemic load (sugar, potatoes, flour, white rice) is a much better way to reduce your chance of heart disease (or diabetes or cancer or alzheimer’s) than obsessing on the burger you had yesterday.
